Thanks for your guest post, Pie!
So here I am, telling you to exercise? Telling you “hey, I’m way busier and I can do it?”
No. I’m telling you, that it IS possible.
I do not have it all together. My house is a wreck. I have approximately 8 loads of laundry waiting to be folded and put away. I couldn’t tell you when I last dusted. I really need to sit down and finish the stack of paperwork on my desk. And I’m pretty sure my kids will eat cereal for dinner tonight because yet again, I forgot to plan what we’ll eat.
But I can tell you that I feel so much better when I run. I feel stronger when I lift weights. I feel happier when I’ve accomplished it and proud of myself for reaching a new goal.
And we need that. As moms, life is hard. It can be so draining and emotionally taxing. We are the ones who remember everyone’s schedules but also notice if the toothpaste is running low and that it needs to be added to the list. And if you’re a working mom, hell, that’s a whole other level of busy and exhaustion.
So no, I’m not telling you or guilting you in to working out or running. But I’m here to remind you that it is actually possible. Don’t think that it isn’t. Start small. Take a walk with your baby. Do some yoga. Because one thing I can tell you with certainty is that it will help your mental health, patience level, and all around you’ll be a better mom. Yeah, I said it. And that’s what we’re all working on, right? Being the best mom we can be to the ones who hold our heart.
