It's my BIRTHDAY!!!! I've always been a huge lover of birthdays (who isn't) especially my own! I'm one of the lucky ones who has a birthday within a week of Christmas which has had it's pros and cons over the years. I've had a Christmas tree shaped birthday cake and presents wrapped in red and green. But mostly, my birthday is always treated as it's own special day and it's usually full of my FAVORITE THINGS!
Is it just me or has "raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" been stuck in your head for MONTHS? It's the very reason all of our Christmas gifts are wrapped in brown paper this year AND that I HAVE to listen to music while working out - I can't get it out of my head!! You try to run for an hour with those verses on repeat in your annoying little brain. I digress.

My favorite things!
Isn't this a super cute version of "My Favorite Things"? I found it on Pinterest! And all true, especially the bright colored running shoes. And if that song wasn't stuck in your head yet...it is now! haahahahahah --- birthday girl revenge.
Last night we celebrate Christmas AND my birthday at a ranch staff holiday party. They brought me Udi's Lemon Struesel Muffins topped with raspberries! Yum! I also ate my fair share of homemade bison green chili and gluten free gingerbread cookies.
This morning I had the uncommon opportunity to sleep in and I took FULL advantage of it! My sweet little Oakley pup even joined me to cuddle (and I said I would NEVER let my dog in bed with me...) We made blueberry oat pancakes with EXTRA SPRINKLES for a special birthday breakfast. I just love eating breakfast with my hubby!
I've been enjoying these beautiful flowers all day on my table. Just for today I moved the Christmas decorations so my bright birthday centerpiece can be the star!
One of the fitness-nerd things about me is that it really is one of my favorite things to go to the gym. Today I spent a good chunk of time on the elliptical and then did a strength circuit including weighted lunges, wall sits + curls, wood choppers (my all time fav) and walkout pushups. Finished up with some core and stretching and I'm a pretty happy girl! I up'd my age on the elliptical today, sorry for the blurry pic! And my max heart rate goes down another beat....
This afternoon I got to do another two of my favorite things with two of my favorite "people"... my hubby and I picked up Starbucks and took Miss Oakley for a walk along the river! It was chilly but the sun was out and it was beautiful!
One of my other very favorite things to do on a day off is watch Ellen! It's so rare that I get a chance to watch daytime TV and this is the one show I love to catch! It's always good for a laugh and some well deserved down time.
So far it's been a pretty great birthday! We're also headed "home" this weekend so I've also been busy doing laundry and getting packed up. I'm excited to celebrate with family in a few days! Thanks for sharing my life and this year with me and I can't wait to see what 28 has in store for me! I think it's going to be great!
What about you?
What's your favorite daytime TV show?

Fit Tip . . .
To calculate your maximum heart rate - take 220 and subtract your age. That's your MAX. Typically, your TARGET HEART RATE is 65-85% of your max heart rate number. Aim to stay in that range during your cardio workout.
