Alright football fans - this one's for you! Just in case you live in a dark hole without access to the outside world (AKA my house before last Saturday)...College Football Started Last Week! I mentioned in my Coffee Date post last week that we still didn't have access to live TV/football games. Well, by 10am on Saturday I had subscribed to Sling TV. So far, I"m super excited about it. We paid about what we would pay for a month of cable for 3 months, and I have all of my favorite channels; ESPN, HGTV, Food Network... No, this post is sponsored by Sling. I'm just pretty excited about the service so far! Anyways, this football fan just couldn't take a September Saturday without football, so thank goodness that's been fixed. My hubby just laughed at me when he got home from his game Saturday night, as I was baking and watching the Aggies play in the late game. He totally held out longer than me with the TV thing!
Being that it's college football season and my husband is coach, I've been spending quite a bit of time at the football complex. One of the perks of being a coach's wife is that we get to come hang out at practice, run on the track and workout in the facilities. I know this isn't the case everywhere, and it hasn't always been the case for us either, but at our new school I get to all the time and I'm loving it! Little M also loves it too, the highlight of her week is going to football practice to run on the track and play on the turf!
Since I'm a totally sucker for themed workouts I just HAD to put together a new football field workout in honor of our home opener this weekend! I've got another stadium workout in the archives too if you want more football fitness fun! Even if you're not affiliated with a school, check around town! There are often fields/tracks/stadiums that are open to the public to use. Personally, I get a big shot of motivation when I work out at the stadium, there is just something magical about it!
Ok, enough talk. Let's get to this workout! Here it is..this one is GUARANTEED to kick your booty. Literally. I like to say, you'll be working on your own "Tight End"!
1. 400 meter RUN
After a good, dynamic warm-up, start with 1 lap around the track/400 meters/quarter mile
2. Lunge 50 yards to the 50 yd line
Always remember to keep your knees in line with your ankles, stack your shoulders over your hips and engage your core
3. Heisman Hops
At the 50 yd line, do 10 Heisman Hops. Start on one leg in the Heisman Pose, and then hop over the goal line and land in the pose on the other leg. Repeat 10 times.
4. Lunge back to the Endzone
Complete your way across the field by lunging 50 more yards to the opposite endzone.
5. Bleacher Run
Take 1 trip up and down the bleachers
Repeat this circuit - 4 times through is the goal!
Take a picture of yourself (and your friends!) completing this workout and be sure to tag @homefieldfitness on Instagram! I would love to share it!
I love sharing my love for football AND fitness with my little M! She's my favorite workout accessory! I just had to share this picture...it captures us perfectly I think!!
