Well, I just wrapped up my first day back to real-life post vacation and it was full of laundry, groceries, food prep and cleaning. I even got a long run in! Needless to say, I'm exhausted, and relieved to be cuddling on the couch with my puppy re-living my Hawaiian adventure with you all!
Here's a run down . . .WARNING! PHOTO OVERLOAD!!

Wow! I'm such a lucky girl. I just spent an amazing week visiting my sister in Hawaii - where we celebrated her birthday, spent days playing and laying at the beach and exploring the island. I wanted to share with you all some of my favorite photos of the trip, and some of the great food and fitness opportunities I had while I was there.
food
Oh the food! Fish tacos and thai food trucks and sushi and cafes and cocktails...there was no shortage of yummy food here, most of it pretty healthy! I WAS on vacation there...so I didn't hesitate to splurge a few times on poolside drinks and gluten free brownies.
#1 - Ready for my 7.5 hr flight with an americano and gluten free banana muffin!
#2 - First stop was Maui Tacos (love how they have so many GF options!) and enjoyed a grilled fish bowl on Kailua Beach at sunset! Welcome to Hawaii!
#3 - Homemade smoothies for breakfast at my sisters
#4 - Our Starbucks for Aubrey's birthday! I'm determined to recreate her Vanilla Frappuccino with a shot of espresso back here at home!
#5 - Thai food truck - we shared some chicken pad thai
#6 - Colada Acai Bowl from Lanikai Juice was the highlight of my food treats! A delicious tropical acai smoothie topped with granola, coconut, bananas and pineapple. So delicious. I could live on these babies.
#7 - You can't go to Hawaii without enjoying Shave Ice! We went to "Island Snow" after our paddle boarding adventure.
#8 - haha...oops missed #8!
#9 - Iced coffee and gluten free brownie at Blue Tree Cafe in Honolulu.
#10 - Enjoying a home made dinner at home on my sister's front porch! Wine and pasta!
#11 - Wai Lana fruit and nut bar - I found this at the grocery store. It's GF and vegan, and it kind of reminded me of a Lara Bar. Pretty good and a filling snack!
#12 - I love how it was 80 degrees when I ate my breakfast out on the porch every morning. Kind of too hot for hot coffee though!
#13 - "Train wreck Nachos" at Jimmy Buffett's. Holy splurge! We got the cheese on the side (hence the "train wreck") so I could share them. Of course we had to get margaritas...
#14 - PF Changs gluten free chicken lettuce wraps - we got these during happy hour and it's such a great deal for a gluten free meal!

fitness
I love exploring new ways to stay active while on vacation. I try not to make any workout a "must-do"...I do what feels good!
#1 - I did an online yoga video my first morning there when I woke up early stiff and sore from a long travel day
#2 - Sunset 4 miler along the North Shore!
#3 - Yoga poses at the Chinaman's Hat
#4 - Morning run along Waikiki Beach to Ala Moana Park - I recorded a "Fitter-in-a-Minute" feature here - see below!
#5 - Channeling our ex-gymnast-selves while hiking the Pillbox Trail overlooking Kailua and Lanikai beaches
#6 - World Series Workout! We did 3 sets of the W.S.W. for legs at the baseball diamond on base. Burning thighs and oh so sweaty! Check out the workout in my guest post at Blonde Ponytail
#7 - SUP (Stand Up Paddle Boarding) - my favorite! We spent the boarding paddling around the Marina on the Marine Corp Base. We saw turtles and gorgeous views! My obliques and arms were feeling it the next day!
#8 - Saw this giant plane on my final Hawaiian run on base.

fun
If all that food and fitness wasn't fun enough...I just had to share a few more pictures of some fun we had!
#1 - My shell necklace and Colorado toes enjoying the first bit of ocean!
#2 - We took a sunset cruise on Aubrey's birthday
#3 - Huge crab on my FAVORITE beach - Lanikai
#4 - Aubrey and I on Waikiki Beach with Diamond Head in the background
#5 - I made my little sis a birthday breakfast. The happy egg face kind of turned into a creepy monster!
#6 - We found coconuts at Turtle Bay!
#7 - We had fun checking out the different pools along the Waikiki Strip
#8 - Fireworks! The Hilton hosts a fireworks show every Tuesday and Friday night. It was the perfect ending to an amazing trip! We watched them from some rocks out in the bay!

a little extra . . . fitter in a minute
During an early morning to Ala Moana Park in Honolulu - I recorded a quick "Fitter in a Minute" clip for y'all - this time featuring Plyometric Split Squats. Use it like I did as an interval inside a run, add it to weight routine or just do it in your living room when you have a minute!
Thanks for sharing this adventure with me - I can't believe how fast the week went and that I'm already back home and back to real life! I don't always post personal pics on here, but if you want a peek into my little life, follow me on Instagram!
