I don't usually post on Saturdays - but I can never turn a Saturday morning coffee date so I linked up with the Ultimate Coffee Date for a little coffee and chit chat with Thanks CoCo, Deborah and Lynda for hosting!! Be sure to click the badge below to see what everyone else is up to on this lovely Saturday!
I sure wish I could have a REAL coffee date with you today - but this is just going to have to do. If we were sitting in my favorite coffee shop with a yummy, iced caramel latte with almond milk, I would mostly likely have to talk a little bit about Little M. What can I say, I'm a little bit into/slightly obsessed with her. She has been so much fun (read: A LOT of WORK) lately! It's so amazing to watch your child grow from being a little snuggly baby into a little KID! Her personality is coming out so strongly and she's getting tall and she's walking and she shuts the door for me when I ask her to. What?! We got a ton of hand-me-down clothes this week (the best kind!) and in the box were some new shoes. We've never been big shoe wearers, but since she's walking I figure she should probably wear shoes, at least when we're in public. When I put those little sneakers on her feet - telling her that she was going to run SO FAST - my heart broke a little bit. I want my baby to stay a barefoot gypsy baby forever. Those shoes make her look SO BIG! Tears.
While we're sipping on coffee I would also probably tell you that I'm going to bite the bullet and sign up for my second half marathon this year! One of my new year's goals was to run 2 this year so I guess I just HAD to! Haha. I'm really excited to do my first TEXAS race, and I've been meeting some new friends here who are planning on doing it too, so I'll have some new running buddies!
While I love starting my Saturday with coffee - I also love FOOTBALL on Saturdays! We can't forget to chat about the fact that college football starts this week! My hubby's team is away this weekend so we'll have to wait another week to cheer them on in person. But don't worry, I've got Little M's game day outfit all ready!! Unfortunately, we haven't gotten cable/Sling/an antenna yet in our new house so I'm feeling totally out of the football loop. Who would have thought that I would be the one asking for cable to watch football before my hubby?! We've gotta figure something out soon before I go into withdrawals!
I'd also probably tell you how excited I've been about the weather lately! I know, I know - you know you live in South Texas when it's 89 degrees and cloudy and you're texting everyone you know about the amazing weather! I'm becoming hopeful for decent running weather in the near future - and Little M LOVES being outside, especially playing catch with Miss Oakley out in our backyard. It's MUCH more fun for all of us when we aren't melting!!
Finally, I'd probably ask you for some book recommendations! I have been so bad about reading any adult books since Little M was born. I want to get back into the habit of reading in the evenings but I need a good book to get me going! Our library is less than desirable and I don't want to buy a book unless I know it's going to be great! Any ideas? Or any cool book swaps you know of to get used books?
Thanks for having coffee with me today!

Alyssa, thanks for coffee. My hubby is all about the college football, I am more the NFL. We are all about football in this house! ESPN, NFL network, NFL Red Zone all weekend. Congrats on the second half marathon, I am working on my 5th and I am hooked. I am so so bad at reading books, I am reading through magazines these days and I wish I were a book reader. Not since the kids were little. Happy weekend :)

so I'm not a coffee drinker but looking forward to an iced chai this afternoon! Even though I have my CSU shirt on I'll skip the game today to help the kiddos move and watch the baby...little Emmylou can be my chai date! Not sure about my next half but have started a trend since I tried it again today for the second time....running to yoga or pilates class. Today was pilates and I do have to say I'm loving this new workout idea!!!

Of course our Saturday coffee date is after our long Saturday morning trail run with Oakley in the lead, so we would be flat out tired. A tall black cup of Pike Place roast at Starbucks with a piece of banana bread is the only way to go. We find our table outside and then, I would listen; because I love to hear about your beautiful life, all that you are thinking, planning, doing, and contemplating. Makena and I are making faces at each other, laughing, and maybe snuggling a bit, but mostly I'm chasing her around as she goes from table to table putting a smile on each person's face. And then I might share with you a bit of what I am learning, and how moved I am by Kara Tippett's telling her story in her book "The Hardest Peace." She tells the story of how to live, even as she is dying. Not a light or easy read for sure, but it will shape your heart, and you will know that the little things in life really are the big things. But, I think you already know that because I see it in how you are living each day in your own beautiful way. And then I give you a big hug and kiss your forehead, the one that looks just like Makena's and say I love you, and goodbye until next Saturday:)

oh she is just adorable! What a fun age-enjoy. WE are all about Hoosiers as my daughter is at Indiana and my boys are Eagles fans :) Thanks for linking up today!

Oh, she is so cute! Toddler shoes are the cutest. We still have my daughter's little Addidas -- and she's 24. I just did a good book review -post. Do you have a Kindle or similar e-reader? I download samples (usually the first chapter) from Amazon and make sure I like the book before I buy. I've also found some pretty good books in their $1.99 collection.

I know, aren't they!? I was just at the store and we were looking at the tiny Nikes and Asics...she was loving the neon colors! I've started her early! I have an e-reader, but I don't love online reading. I like to hold a book! But that's a good idea...I might have to give it another try!

I'm a big football fan too. College - and my team is on tonight, but we can't get the game. Stupid tv contracts and politics.
