Happy Saturday Friends! Today I'm linking up with Got2Run4Me, Confessions of a Mother Runner and Fitness Mom Wine Country and tons of other great bloggers for the Ultimate Coffee Date! I've never done a link-up before...but I think it sounds fun! I mean, who can turn down a Saturday morning coffee date with other fit friends? Click the badge below to check out what everyone else has to say this morning! Wow! We're already a week into February! It's Little M's 7 month birthday (where does the time go?) and my youngest sister's 17th birthday (Umm...SERIOUSLY...where does the time go?!) Happy Birthday to my sweet girls! February is a perfect time to check in on your 2015 resolutions/goals/whatever you call them. And what better time than over a a yummy almond latte with a friend? So, how are y'all doing so far? I wanted to do a little check-in on here because just like many of you...my January definitely wasn't' perfect! The great part is, I've made some changes and I have 11 more months to keep working! First up - my sugar "cleanse". I haven't been super successful here, but I've made some major progress. I think my problem has been I didn't set strict guidelines for myself so I found ways to "fudge" (haha) my plans. On the plus side, I didn't actually eat any fudge. More good news: I big time cut out on desserts/treats. I mean, trays of leftover Christmas goodies got tossed because I wasn't munching on them! My main sugar splurges were chocolate almond milk, granola, sweetened dried fruit in trail mix and occasional dairy free chocolate chips. I also had a few actual desserts (I can't resist apple crisp guys!) but tried to keep them to once a week. My real problem with sweets is that once I have them, I want MORE AND MORE. So addicting! I don't want to cut it out cold turkey but that might be what it takes if I really want to make a change. Running. I think I ran an average of 5 miles a week in January. Yikes! Definitely not where I should be if I want to start training for a half soon...but I'm getting my motivation back and am planning to start building up my base - starting now! I still haven't signed up for any halfs yet which makes the planning and motivation a bit harder. The life of a transitioning coach's wife makes planning for things like that a little more challenging! I have been enjoying the nicer weather here in CO though, and loving running with Miss Oakley and Little M! Read about our running adventures here! Yoga. I got the BEST Christmas gift from my hubby this year - a month of unlimited yoga! I'm going to post more about it soon, but I had a blast digging deeper into my yoga practice last month. It also explains why my running and strength training have taken a back seat...I wanted to take advantage of all-the-free-yoga!!! Grace. This is going to be a yearlong/lifelong challenge for me for sure. I've never had a "focus word" before I really like the intention that it brings to my days. I have caught myself changing the way I respond to things in order to "give grace" to others, and I have had numerous moments when I can see God giving me His grace. Moving forward...I'm excited to see what February brings! We might do a little traveling and I'm hoping to do a lot more running. I'm also hoping to continue to limit my sweet treats! how about you?Have you been sticking to your 2015 goals? What can you do this month to help you get back on track? Sounds like you are making progress and like you said you have tons of time! Pick a race and sign up- that will get you moving! I am on a 4 week recovery period from surgery but I am signed up for a half at the end of April! I am out walking now but when I get my full release in 2 weeks- those running shoes will hit the ground! Have a great weekend and thanks for the coffee :)

Your baby is so cute! I'm trying to cut sugar too-it's not always easy huh? My running is not where I expected it to be either due to my injury but I know I will get back there soon. Thanks so much for joining the coffee date they are so much fun to write and read. We hope to see you around more often!

Alyssa, welcome to the Ultimate Coffee Date. Glad to see you here. So college football coach, which college, I tried to find it on the blog. We are HUGE football fans in this house! My running goals are shot to crap since I got sick in January with the most horrible bug {almost 4 weeks} and now the family has it. Our start to the year is not off to a productive one. I am hoping to get back on track next week. Make sure to mark your calendar for the first Saturday of each month and come back :)

I just started training last week for an April half, it's not pretty but the spring-like weather has really helped the motivation factor! I've never done a sugar cleanse (or a cleanse of any kind) but I do think they're great for getting us to recognize what we're actually putting into our bodies.
