Well hey there...can you believe Christmas is in 10 days? It really doesn't seem like Christmas should be so close, but the fact that it finally snowed here yesterday helps! It's just not Christmas without snow...I don't care what you say.
We have been in the middle of some big changes (more on this later) and we haven't had the chance to spend as much time doing holiday-ish things as we usually do. I guess I can say I haven't had much of a chance to think about blogging either. Sorry about that! Maybe once we get into the new year I will get my act together. No promises though. Can you believe I haven't even done a BIT of holiday baking yet! The Thought! Nonetheless, I am really excited for the next few weeks. I just can't wait to get to my parents house, soak in the holiday cheer and take a great big cinnamon-scented breath. That, and then start doing some SERIOUS baking!!
I've always LOVED Christmas and I can't believe we get to share this special time of year with our biggest present of all this year - little Miss Makena! I know she's too young to really know what's going on, but it will be so fun to share in the traditions with her. We even made her first ornament this week - a salt-dough hand print ornament. It was super fun and way easy. We even made it gluten free!! Here's the recipe we used. Little M even helped with the small amount of decorating I've done. She loves the twinkly lights and shiny ornaments! And tinsel. But who doesn't love tinsel?
Since we've been so low-key on Christmas this year, it's really helped me to focus on what really matters during this time of year. Our family is together after a long football season and we have just been enjoying time together. We haven't been out shopping once yet, and it has made me realize that we really don't want to fill our Christmas with lots of stuff! We are excited to give gifts of course, but I'm so glad that it hasn't been the focus for us this year.
I can't promise how many more posts I'll have before the end of 2014...but I can tell you that we'll be having fun! Between now and 2015 I have a birthday, Christmas and am hosting a baby shower for my best childhood friend. That and about a million other fun things! I'm guessing I'll be a little better about posting on Instagram than on here. I hope you're enjoying your December!
