If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you've probably seen a few posts lately that involve essential oils. If you know me in person, you probably have figured out that I'm completely OBSESSED with them. I got my first kit of oils in April, and thought I might use them to freshen my sheets or create a calm atmosphere in my home. I had no idea I would end up using them all day, every day, in every part of our life! I've been posting 1 way - every day that I use oils this month in my Home Field Essentials Facebook Group. I wanted to share about it on here today because there are so many aspects to being "healthy" and it's not all about eating vegetables and working out. The chemicals that we expose ourselves to through cleaning products, body products and medications can do a real number on our bodies. By finding natural ways to replace these every day things, we can reduce the toxins in our bodies, live happier and healthier and even, gasp - cheaper!

I had heard about essential oils in the past, and recently tons of stuff had been popping up on my Pinterest feed that used oils, but I never really thought much about them until Little M and I got sick on our trip to Hawaii this spring. Long story short, after several doctor's visits and prescription pick ups I realized that this is not how I wanted my family's healthcare handled. We were having side effects from medications that needed to be treated with other medications...etc etc etc. A friend of mine offered me a roll-on bottle with some essential oils that she thought might help us out by supporting our body’s natural functions. They did, and I started looking into what else I could do with oils!
What I love the most, is how empowered I feel when it comes to the health of my family. No, I'm not anti-doctor. I am sure glad they were around when I was pushing out my baby, and I won't think twice about heading in for serious injuries or illness. But when I know I can do a lot to manage our health and home with my little basket of essential oils - it pretty much makes me feel like super mama!
Since moving into our shiny new home in Texas, I've committed to having a low-chemical home. I haven't bought a single cleaner since we've been here and I've started to replace tons of products in our home with oils! Having a baby has really made me think twice about what is in our home environment and I love that most of our cleaners, lotions, feel better remedies, etc are totally baby safe! Little M runs around with her roll-on bottle of lavender pretty much every day.
The other really cool thing about getting involved with essential oils is the opportunity it gives me to educate other moms (and ANYONE!) about oils and ways to keep their family healthy naturally. When I train my fitness clients, I know I can offer natural solutions for their sore muscles or respiratory struggles. When I encourage eating healthy, I have some awesome oils to share that will help you drink more water, or help season your food. It's so fun once you get going with it! I would love to help my readers out - so right now I'm offering free one-on-one consults for any HFF reader! If you want to know more about oils or about how you can get them discounted anytime you want, I'd be happy to share with you. I don't ever want you to feel pressured to buy anything from reading this blog - my intent is to share healthy things I learn with you as I run along this journey called life! I won't be doing tons of posts about oils here - since my main focus is fitness. If you want more frequent info about oils from me (with super practical tips!) - email me!
